My civic is an 05 and I like it better then the 01 to 03 it has a better body style and the front bumper looks better then the 01 to 03 bumper

A few more parts here and there for the 01-03's but really the best looking years are the 04-05. The main differences are the headlights and front end, and the rear bumper. If you purchased an 01-03 the 04-05 bumper is a clean swap onto it. The engines are all the same and there are really no great advancements going from 01-03 to 04-05. I will say though that despite being recalled the 01-03's do have the air bag srs recall and it seems as though there may be a few more problems with 01-03 models mainly trannys than others. Of course this is only small samplings of what I have read.

Just go for an 04-05 everyone likesthem over the initial 01-03
|
get the 05 i dont think that year have that much problems as older models as 01, honestly i think the 01-03 being the first models that came up are full of problems such suspension, pwdl, crappy ceiling etc etc etc.... i can tell you i ll never buy a 01-03 again go with the 05 not because the way it looks but i think its more reliable
|
eh honestly the 05's are just as prone as the 01-03's, but the 01-03 has the airbag recall.
Problems with all models are weak manual trannys going around 60-75k in some cases with spirited driving im sure I have noticed a few problems with the stock headers cracking through the model years. It happened on my 04 and because of the retarded lx setup the cat and header are all one piece. Meaning it was cheaper for me to source a brand new full exhaust then it was to pay 928 dollars with 10% above cost pricing for a new cat/header combo for the lx. Seat Rocking is about the only other issue, and im not sure if it's out here or not, but my head gasket went at 120k and my buddies at 126k. |
yes true on the head gasket me and my bro just did one on a 05 at 122000 miles ,but its
cake when you replaced many over the years.. even with one of the best suspension setups on my emduce i cant get the stance i want, made for performance not looks ,plus the fenders seems to accommodate for a bigger rim size over the oem spec 15 inch .. |
Lowered I had 17's on mine and I could of easily done 18's I think rufus did 19's and that's about the biggest I've seen on an em2. Weird that the temperature out here seems to do work on the head gaskets, but im betting there is some kind of cost cutting that honda did and didn't think about it. Either way glad Tri-Tech had done mine when it went out. Saved me about 700 bucks.

the only problem i have whit my civic is the alternator and the suspension but other then that still ruining like Toyota
|
I have a 02. I say get the 03 year. It has a little bit of both model. It has the 04-05 interior but the 01-03 headlamps which i like better than the 04-05 headlamps.
Also the only problem i've had with my civic is that its misfiring. |
yup true

I go with the 04 and 05 EM-2's I just like the face lift and the head lights and the tail lights look more 21st century
