bb4arson 08-24-2010 03:34 AM

how much do you usually charge for a port job

all_motor_mike 08-24-2010 06:35 AM

it ranges depending on the amount of work. but my "street port" with valve job resurface and assembly starts at 600.00

AFFIRace 08-25-2010 11:09 PM

Hell yeah mike. I'm so glad to see your work. Didn't realize you did so much port work either. I'm digging the multi-talents.

B16-Integra 08-25-2010 11:20 PM

Do you have a flow bench machine? How much would you charge to port and polish a B-Series head and do a valve job?

boostdek 08-25-2010 11:23 PM

sick fab! that nova is insane!! props 2u

all_motor_mike 08-26-2010 11:51 AM

yes sir, theres ups and downs with my head work, sometimes ill be fabbing away for a few months with no headwork orders and like now, when ive done 4 heads in about a month and havent fabbed anything in about 2 months. i actually got my start with head porting and then the fabbing came shortly after. i can never make up my mind which one i llike to do better, and recently i started building engines too (but that is what i do by trade so i dont know whay that didnt come sooner)

B16- no i dont have a flow bench. i always take my stuff to basko and have ray flow all my heads. i found somebody else though with a SF600. so i just dropped the eco head off over there yesterday because im in surprise and this guy is in phx vs driving all the way out to basko in gilbert. im pretty sure ill probably stick with this new guy though he seems a little more friendly i guess then ray. as for the porting...... all my aluminum 4 cyl heads have the same pricing, which starts at 600.00 for a street port, vj, resurface and assembly and can go up from there. flowbenching is 75.00 extra as i have to out source for that. and im always up for trading too, thats the perks of working for ur self lol.

again thanks guys

honduh_head 08-30-2010 10:12 PM

man thats a steal from what ive seen so far. i'll have to keep you in mind when i want my head done

all_motor_mike 08-31-2010 12:07 AM

update on that eco head, i havent got the flow sheet yet but when they called me to tell me it was done today i asked them how much it did at .500" on both sides and it did better than what i was hoping for...........

intake @ .500" 299 cfm
exhaust @ .500" 208 cfm

once i get the flow sheets ill go ahead and put all the numbers up from .050" to .500" in .050" increments.

fRoSt 08-31-2010 03:03 AM

damn!u got skills man. looks legit as fuck. so is all those head street port like wat u said? if so, i want u to do some of the work for my head later on. haha.

all_motor_mike 08-31-2010 09:17 AM

the eco is a race port, the evo is a street strip with combo work (almost a race port if i would have opened the ports up a little more)

mike

fRoSt 09-02-2010 09:22 PM

damn. i think thats enough for the street. nice. how much would street port deal plus port matching would cost?

all_motor_mike 09-02-2010 11:06 PM

street porting is 600.00. it includes seat blending, divider knifing, opening up of the intake port inlest and exhaust port outlets with some attention to the short side of the ports and casting flash cartridge rolling. its not full porting and it doesnt look fully worked over like the pics above, its just a street port. the matching i can do no problem btw.

here the flowbench brekdown on the race ported ecotec head, im very happy with the results!!!

intake......
.050"- 68.1cfm
.100"- 107.4 cfm
.150"- 143.3 cfm
.200"- 186.4 cfm
.250"- 226.1 cfm
.300"- 251.7 cfm
.350"- 273.3 cfm
.400"- 284.1 cfm
.450"- 293.0 cfm
.500"- 299.1 cfm

exhaust......... percentage of exhaust to intake at given lifts.......
.050"- 53.0 cfm 77.8%
.100"- 88.4 cfm 82.3%
.150"-124.0 cfm 86.5%
.200"- 154.4 cfm 82.8%

.500"- 208.2 cfm 69.6%

mike

honduh_head 09-07-2010 05:08 PM

300 cfm is not too shabby at all!

all_motor_mike 09-07-2010 07:21 PM

no sir its not, i just wish i could have gotten more out of the exhaust side, well i know i could have so ill try it with my next one as this on is done and getting ready to be assembled now.

Mike, You have some amazing talent.

fRoSt 09-07-2010 08:17 PM

well i'll be sure to keep ur work in mind wen i need some work done. and i might consider something like the work u done to that evo. keep up the good job man.

all_motor_mike 09-08-2010 12:15 AM

thank u sir, it was lots of practice to get to this level thats for sure. and....... frost im ready whenever u are.

mike

AFFIRace 09-09-2010 11:57 PM

Keep this up I know how true this is and you look like you've done well for yourself.

all_motor_mike 09-10-2010 03:42 AM

all_motor_mike 09-16-2010 05:34 PM

ok i finally went and picked the head up today and the numbers are right about what i guessed they would be at .500" lift. they are as follows.......

intake:

.050"- 73.6
.100"- 117.3
.150"- 151.7
.200"- 188.6
.250"- 214.8
.300"- 227.1
.350"- 240.5
.400"- 252.6
.450"- 260.2
.500"- 265.2

exhaust:

.050"- 58.3
.100"- 89.4
.150"- 122.0
.200"- 152.4
.250"- 176.3
.300"- 194.4
.350"- 207.5
.400"- 217.6
.450"- 224.3
.500"- 230.7

im pleased with the results as these are stock sized valves and there isnt a whole lot of porting done to the head as could have been done (i mean it flows basically what i guessed it would). ill find somebody that wants a o/s valve race ported head and as soon as i do ill get it flowed and have the numbers up.

PENTAGRAM_OF_EVIL 09-18-2010 10:57 PM

Wow very nice work, what would you charge to do an intake manifold or an itb set up for an h22a.

all_motor_mike 09-19-2010 03:37 PM

that all depends on the price of the parts being used, theres several ways to go about building both a plenum and an itb setup, plenum manifold at minimum would be about 450.00 though.
