Aright thanks also as a long run do you think a d series can take the pounds from. a turbo cause the last d series I seen with a turbo a mechanic told my buddy that his turbo was going bad cause he didnt have enough pounds of pressure but I feel like he might have been blowin smoke to make a sale

AZ_CIVIC 08-12-2014 07:22 PM

I would turbo the car, NA is just to slow LOL.

bwinkles 08-12-2014 07:24 PM

Well im not tryna take it on the track or nothin just make it a little bit funner to cruz around in I gotta hour drive to get to work

AZ_CIVIC 08-12-2014 07:33 PM

Turbo kit, 6-8 psi is all you need, reliable and fun. If you stay NA with some bolts ons you may as well keep it stock.

And decent makes to keep an eye out for when I start the search

Supercharger

bwinkles 08-14-2014 07:25 PM

i thought bout a super charger nd i know its more effective but its also more expensive so ill deal with the loss of back pressure when i do get the extracash for it

LS-S DA9 08-14-2014 07:31 PM

You need to do some reading... they both have ups and downs. A supercharger takes power to make power, turbo can/will lag. Personally I think there's a reason more people turbo little honda motors than supercharge...

bwinkles 08-14-2014 08:39 PM

oh i know that the super takes power to make power so they tend to hit a little better on the lower rpm's and the turbos tend to give the boost later in later rpm's

Chuck Chainz 08-14-2014 08:52 PM

That depends on how you're sizing it all up.

bwinkles 08-14-2014 08:54 PM

whats your preference

Well I ran the Jackson Supercharger on a sleeved fully built GSR with an Alanize race head. I sent my Super Charger to Endyne and had Larry do a full port. I also bought the LHT water to air race intercooler setup from John owner of LHT. My car made 282whp with the supercharger setup. It was pretty good but even with the water to air intercooler it still would heat soak very quick and had no top end power. I had probably 4 grand into the supercharger setup.

I than got tired of the supercharger and sold it in 07, I bought a used turbo kit for a grand and made 480 whp on a 57 trim turbo, took it to the track and ran 11.6's right out of the gate. I have had a turbo ever since.

I started out in 99 with a nitrous setup, then went NA for 5 with multiple builds and my opinion nothing beats turbo.

Perfect post. Here's a man that's tried both and agrees turbo is the way..

Buy a smaller turbo if you are worried about lower rpm...

USDM_Boobies 08-22-2014 07:51 PM

shit ur in tuscon me and another forum member bring our 7th gens to meets sometimes would be nice to have another 7th gen at the meets =(

bwinkles 08-22-2014 09:39 PM
