The previous dyno looks better to me while the peak power is nice, the power band of the original starts sooner and stays above the 2nd untill 8k sure the 2nd has more power before 4200 but for drag racing depending on the gears probably wont spend anytime down there

Joe tuned for gas mileage down low. We did lose some mid range HP and TQ up to a point from shortening the header primary length. This was done in an attempt to move power out into the RPM band so it will work better with the short gearing she is using. That result was great. I would have rather not lost the HP or TQ, but further testing will be needed to see if the next changes to the header (back to the original length) wil show an even better gain. I bet we pick it back up and then some... I could also move the cam gear to move power up or down, but as you mentioned we built this primarily for the track, so this power band is much better suited.
Oh, and on a personal note, this car is so much easier to drive on the street now. |

This engine was never stolen. It had been in the car that was stolen, but was removed and put into a lighter chasis.

I'm gonna resurrect this thread...
I have since purchased the motor and the hatch it resides in... I wanted to keep it in the "family"... Most people who are in the know, remember this car was stolen from its interim owner while up in Phoenix, but he recovered it mostly in tact. He was able to get it running again for a short time, but alas it died on him for an unknown reason. Scott and I spoke and believe that, due to the large lift and duration, the timing belt was off 1 tooth, causing piston to valve contact. I know all this can be found out by a leakdown test and thats the next step... If the head does have to come off, I'll be doing whatever else I can to pick up power in the head (most has already been done I know)... and I'll be working on adapting my Xcessive Manufacturing H22 manifold to the F22 head... I helped with the OBX mani process and really feel this newer unit will really help it flow up top. I also acquired a custom H2B header built for Scott's old race car, made by AFI, that doesn't seem to fit the H2B/H22 at all... its got an interesting design so I might be modifying that to fit the F22 head as well. Also, Scott had previously tuned this on mostly pump gas (combo of 100 & 91 octane)... I'll be switching to some sort of race fuel for better burn rates and more reliable consistency. That all being said, I hope to officially break the 300hp mark....I'd REALLY love to see it more around the 350 range with whats inside (I've ALWAYS felt it had ALOT more in it). There's also a few suspension goodies I'll be looking into over the next few months, mostly SFWD stuff.... but if it works for them, why not an all motor car!?! Lastly, I HATE cable shifted cars....just a personal thing I guess. This has 1 of Scotty's older H race boxes (faced, syncroless, etc, etc.)....if I cant get used to it, I'll be putting a B trans on it and going that route. Wow. I'm actually happy it went to somebody that's going to take care of it.I would say just get rid of the h trans. From what I've seen the b series transmission loses less horsepower compared to the h series, so that's going to get you closer to you goals.
Also, is it going to be strictly race car? Or why not tune it on e85 pump? Edit: Maybe start a fresh thread? just an opinion. |

the car didnt just randomly die, he was racing and did a 1-2-1 shift, there was video of the race it died on in one of the facebook groups a while back.
