What u still waiting for?

So, shitty news.
Car was on the dyno and was about about 315 @18psi before the turbo was maxing out. Then coolant was getting into the chamber. It was taken apart the next day and the sleeves had sunk lower into the block. Not a single issues for the 5 years i had it and once boost was introduced back into the motor, the shit went south but the block was built 13 years ago. Only option given was to spend another $2k+ to get it re-sleeved and put back together to run again using Darton Mid and keeping the rest of my components except maybe new bearings. Does that sound right? I have already spent $7k on turbo and first round of install. |
18 psi for 315? He'll I was only on 12 and it was quick. Couldn't imagine 18
|
That sucks. What bore is the motor? I say find yourself another gsr block or even cheaper an a1-b1(don't he picky) swap out all your internals and get back on the dyno. I told you about that turbo being too small, you don't need sleeves for such a small amount of power.
Save monies, sleeve your gsr, build it, get a bigger turbo, cause you are going to get bored. Lol. |
Upedatos?!?!
|
So i have had to get new pistons, rings, injectors, bore to 83mm, new(used) GSR camss and rockers. All back together and the best she can do in this heat is 300 whp @ 14/15psi. I should be able to pick up on Monday/Tues after a final inspection. Haven't had my car since February. Sucks. Hopefully I feel better about all the F@%ing $$$ after i drive it.

So i found some time today to upload some pics.....
On the way to TSR The First time it was being put together New Valve Cover to go with theme Then it broke a second time and was towed by to my house Spent time detailing the engine bay Back together again Then broke again New Darton Mids |
Stock bore? Or you going up? Should be able to handle plenty now. Look fwd to seeing more progress
|
83mm as of now so went up a little bit. Arias Pistons, Manley rods. It is pretty much done. Just need to get it home and finalize a few little things.
|
Bummer to hear you have encountered motor failures with the new setup.
Do you regret going with the turbo? As opposed to leaving it in stock format? |
I've been a fan of this car for years. So glad to see you keeping it clean. Never sell it!

:icon_eek:
dont we all but then it wouldnt be as fun! |
Is there an update on this beaut?

Whats up man, Thanks for checking in.
So 2016 was a pretty shit year for the car. Spent thousands of dollars getting her boosted 3x with all the issues we had. I was only able to drive her roughly 1,000 miles (3months) before my strut tower bar severed my vacuum line to the FPR which caused me to go lean. Melted my new Arias pistons and started the 4th tear down and rebuild. I have gone with weisco pistons this time and just waiting on Aaron to finish building it before i can get her back. Dropped off in November and don't see it getting done till end of April at this rate... Sucks, missed the entire boost season and will get it back when it start to get hot as shit. Boost.... as of now..... is not worth the extra hassle and cost.... I reserve the right to change that opinion whenever i get the car back for an extended period of time.
