looking at lowering the hatch on a budget
So i chopped the rear springs down and i got lowering springs from an evo. My problem is that the front evo springs are way to big, but the back ones look like they will work. I should be good right? Im gonna ride out like this till my broke ass can afford coil overs lol

I dont think i would try the evo springs i dont think its a smart idea... i had a friend try to put mix matched coils on his ef and they popped out of place and just slammed the car and blew the tire cause the edge of the coil dug into the sidewall on the tire... so i dont think its a good idea... just either cut up oem ones or wait till you get coils...
Well considering it is running so low... bouncy as hell... I love the stance and i love the way it looks but its just a rough ride... the accord though rides amazing still even though its like 2 inches off the ground... |

wtf!? your really going to cut springs or fuck up your handling components for a look? plus you plan on driving out to Wyoming like that?
if you can not afford $40 than don't bother at all. the damage will be more than $40 |

I like my low accord... i would like it lower but i dont know if its a good idea... i have a hard enough time getting into parking lots and speed bumps... looks sick but not to functional...
Ricer dreams they come and go and one day you will just look at it and start looking for oem parts or jdm parts... do wanna see pics of your hatch...

From experience and lack of funds before.... i can honestly say if done right cut springs dont really change much for ride quality.... they do take a bigger toll on your shocks and what not though.... ANYWAYS.... IF you are going to do it.... do it right.... when you take the spring off the car rem what side is top and which is bottom.... when you cut the spring cut from the bottom portion of the sprign i did about 1 3/4 coils on my crx.... mount it back in and see where its at ride height wise.... if you are pleased leave it be if not take it apart again and cut 1/4 coil at a time till you get the ride height you are looking for then use the portion of the cut spring as a measure ment its safe to say you want all springs at about the same hieght so you dont have a drooping side i used a level on the trunk roof and hood on my crx to make sure it was even.... remember you have to flatten out the bottom of the cut potion so it seats on the shock correctly. and dont forget to trim the bump stop on the shock as it will tend to hit once its dropped more then an inch... gets some extended top hats made at the same time if you know anyone able to make them for you....
like i said done correctly it can be a very cheap and effective way to lower you cars profile if you are not looking at high aggressive driving like on a track... Hope this helps....

well now i have other problems with the hatch. the guy i got it from "rebuilt" the top end but when i took the valve cover off there wasnt even a gasket so thats problem number one. number two i drove it to work yesterday and it seemed just fine, but when i got off work to go and start it up it wouldn't turn over. so after i got towed home i tried to start it again, it turned over for a brief second then died out? thinking fuel pump, but it hasn't had any stutters at all, so makes me think i may not be getting enough spark. So im just going to this weekend get a new cap and rotor wires plugs and the gasket and pray to god thats all it is.
But if it is my fuel pump, anybody have an extra one laying around? lol |

Is your fuel pump priming before u try to start it? It could be the main fuel relay (its located inside, lower left by hood release) its common for that to give out on the older hondas.

from my experiences, the cheapest way ive lowered a car was to completely remove the spring. and presto! super dumped at the cost of an hour of your life
