Why is Norton called anti virus?
 

I was just remembering something that happened when we had my first computer. I didn't know much about computers, obviously, so we get it set it up it came with Norton virus bullshit cause it was included for a year. Everything is somewhat normal, but it still managed to catch a virus, I called up Dell and they make me reset the computer since there isn't anything worth saving in it at the time.

Some time goes by and it keeps getting this small viruses, what ever no big deal, however I keep getting reminders of Norton to pay to update and I'm down to a couple of days.......you know.....cause I like to live dangerously. One NIGHT while searching through the typical sites of pron and having a jolly time the motherfucker decides to expire on me at like three in the fucking morning!!!! I'm like freaking out cause the computer had a complete mental breakdown. As soon as that fucking timer hit one second on the count down all shit broke loose!!! I got all kinds of messages about virus and all kinds of shit. After freaking out and the computer not responding to anything I tried, I had the brilliant Idea to go down to my local 24 hour wally world, buy another copy of norton and fix it. Well I did and what do you know? It fixed all my problems......and that's when I realized Norton is a fucking scam and Norton itself is a virus. LMAO. I remember paying like $19-30 for it then, what a fucking ripoff!!


If your using it get rid of it, it only makes more harm than any good if any.

Jermo installed a couple programs on my comp a long time ago, but now I don't use anything really. There still installed but not active. I havent had a virus in years!!!!! Yarrrrrrrrrrrrr. I keeps busy too lol.

The smart thing would be to reset it to factory specs, then you start your free trial again from begining.

Windows Defender for Win 8. Security Essentials (the same damn thing really) for anything previous to it. Free and it doesn't suck your computers resources. ;)

I don't even run an anti-virus and I've never had issues.
Then again I've been in IT for 13 years and kinda know my way around the net at this point.

I have avast, searchbot and malwarebytes. I used to run avg a long time ago, but like I said nothing is active now they haven't been updated in a long time. Last time I got a virus it was because I download it it thinking it was an update to mother program, but it was just a trojan.
