holy hell. I haven't touched this thread in over 6 years. I wonder if I could get a mod to move it to the project car section?

he is a really good friend and very humble as well. he is stopping by soon at the house and I hope he has some surprises for me. |
All those SiR goodies :icon_eek:
|
|
IMO the SIR front is the best! I'd take a 96-98 with SIR lip over any CTR front any day!
I do like the CTR grill better though... |
I do feel you on that. I love for both set-ups, as I have had them both before. the CTR grill just adds a special something to the front that compliments the SiR and CTR. |
damn just re-read this whole thread. Can't wait for you to get back on this. It's a long project that deserves to be finished. I am stoked for you dude.

That's what's up! I'm stoked to still see this thread going too. Sparking some flame under me as well.
|
this is the one car I cant get rid of and I know its going to be a challenge. I stay doing what I love.
if I can inspire you to get hot and get back into that's cool. just make sure you enjoy what you build man. |
Can't wait to see what else more progress on this! Definitely love the sir bumpers.
|
thanks a lot.
as of right now I still need to see if I can find some1 here locally in my area that can weld my rad core support. |

so the debate about which engine to use is in my face.
the B18C fits right at home in the hatchback, but so does the K20A3. its not even about horse power numbers and going super fast. all i really care about is reliability and efficiency. i have enough know how and connections to make some 210-237 hp motors, but do i need to? the crazy thing is i have just enough extra parts lying around for both engines so that i don't have to stuff too much money into them, especially since i am doing all the work. i guess it would be easier to have 2 of the same motors to worry about versus worrying about a K and a B. but i dunno i still have a long way to go with the body work, but i like to multi-task and it keeps me motivated. |
the k20a3 and the b18c are about the same power and the k weighs about 100 pound more right?
|
i have a 98 spec B18CR, its about 40 more hp at 200 bhp versus the K20A3s 160 bhp. the R has the 5 spd, 4.7 lsd final drive while i have a 04 Type-S 6 speed for the A3.
as for weight differences they are roughly the same weight plus or minus. |
your right I was thinking b vs d sorry. the itr puts more tq and hp down.. so in this case what's the final difference to the wheels(due to trans)?
and unless you have ALL parts to install either then b ftw! |
well seeing how the 6 speed on my current K in my 4door is a EDM CTR with LSD i dont think thats a real issue. i love the extra gear of the K series transmission.
i have ecus, wire harnesses, axles, fuel components, and all that. plus and minus some parts i am adding to upgrade the A3. |
How is 98 Spec B18C vs a K20A3 even up for debate? K20A3 makes a great boat anchor, but that's about it.
|
its up to debate because at some point i will have an extra engine laying around the garage that will take up space. i have been talking to a guy who made a fun little project out of upgrading his K20A3 with some K20A2 parts, it put down some decent numbers. but it seems these days alot of folks are doing the K20/K24 frank build, but i am not sure about going that route at all. plus these days an extra $2000 doesn't get you too much in parts. at the end of the day some will say always ask why |
