i gotta question
i am puttin in a b17a1 in my ef four door and i am replacing the rod bearings how many miles do you drive til the bearings are "broken in"?
|
the bearings don't need broken in. Piston rings are what need time to properly seat and become "broken in".
Make sure you either torque or stretch your rod bolts appropriately, and you should be set so long as you have the right size bearings and everything is smooth. |
ok how do i "stretch" the rod bolts?
|
by torquing them to the proper specs
|
Ok just making sure lol thanks! After these bearings are replaced this motor will be up for trade for a b16 or gsr with bolt ons
|
Torquing them isn't always enough, at least with brand new ARP's.
There is a method you can use to get close to properly stretch and torque them, but ARP recommends using a Rod Bolt Stretch Gauge to measure proper tightnessessess |
^^^^^^^
he is right do it once measure twice and be careful |
:whore:

save some time, money and your motor by going to checkers or pep boys and gettting yourself a platigauge
check your clearances on them and if theyre good then your good to go! good luck on the build |
i saved time and money and had a guy do them that has his own machine shop and builds motors and has been buildin motors for 25+ yrs do it for free! i just did some help around the shop and learned! lol
