Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with my brothers 98 civic it has a misfire on all cylinders. It idles perfect, but it stunbles hard at first and then its super slow.

It's a ex with a y7

so far I've changed

Igniter
coil
wires
fuel filter
fuel regulator

I checked compression its even all across with no fluid in the cylinders.

When I advance the distributor all the day it drives a little better, when I retard it It backfires on acceleration. I'm thinking maybe the timing belt jumped? but I looked at the timing belt and it looks brand new, no slack. :lame:

changed tps and map....................still nothing

Chuck Chainz 06-11-2015 04:45 PM

Was the timing actually checked though?
Timing light and all?

I agree with Chucksta. Check timing. If advancing it helped it a little timing is off. Is the y7 all stock? I know single cam cam gears are different as far as where the marks line up

king06 06-11-2015 05:07 PM

I have not. That's the next thing on my list, I don't have timing light. And yes it is completely stock auto.CA's was running fine, trans was acting up but now it won't even go past 60 and it takes forever to get there. I need to get a timing light.

LS-S DA9 06-11-2015 05:10 PM

Fuck a timing light line it up on the marks lol

4dr_ed3 06-11-2015 06:14 PM

This lol.

king06 06-11-2015 06:31 PM

Lol. I kinda sort of did. But its hard To see the cam gear marks I need to move the cruise control out of the way.I'll do that tomorrow.

oem honda?

king06 06-12-2015 12:35 PM

I used to have problems with OEM caps and rotors. Vatozone would last longer and look better after like 5-10k miles. Maybe that was just me. I still think the OEM wires are the best.

cbaracing 06-12-2015 01:03 PM

how do you gauge how a cap and rotor lasts longer? :type:

Fix.it.again.Tony 06-12-2015 02:22 PM

because it costs less ;)

king06 06-12-2015 02:43 PM

Not really how long it lasts but how it desintegraded faster than the autozone one. I know they are different materials on the contact point. I kept having distributor problems, I bought two OEM once and finally and autozone one and it looked better after a while. Rotor that is.

Joe, lol what you know about Honda parts costs? It wasn't that, I buy like 98% OEM stuff from the ITR, why? Because they are cheaper by a couple dollars vs L's GS gsr. And I get to say its TYPE R stuff lol.

cbaracing 06-12-2015 03:31 PM

if it aint a type r it aint a tyte car :type:

A_integra1012 06-12-2015 04:27 PM

I had thebsame problem before on my y8 turned out it was the crank sensor.
