s2k rebuild - not by choice :(
So. I have a 01, 101k millage.
It's eating OIL.. My first though was piston rings, after talking to friends i'm going to rebuild the motor in a month with tax return an savings.. I'd like to rebuild to stock compassion, but stronger. -- maybe in a year turbo it but honestly i want NA... So you s2k owners in az, whats the shops to go to and not to and companies to trust in my motor and not.. It does have headers-back, intake, and I want to build the head with BC cams, and springs, valves, ect, but not sure about the lower end.. |

You're looking to rebuild the engine solely because its getting poor gas mileage?
I would look into doing a full tune-up and potentially change your driving style. Now if it has been burning oil and it looks like your exhaust needs an oil filter THEN I would look into getting the engine freshened up. Just my .02. |

Tell you what, for as much money as your going to pay a shop, buy the tools and do it yourself. I'm guessing you have a second car?
Also, a stock block f20c will hold up to a lot of abuse and make good power. |

So, compression test came back 200 for all 4 cylinders. I am going to replace my PVC valve, and go from there. Friend that ran the compresion test said a leak down isn't going to show much more, your guys thoughts? Also Vtec kicks in about 75% of the time, is that a low oil pressure issue due to it eating oil? or is this something more, like the solenoid going bad or something worse?

4th cylinder usually scores from low oil. Numbers look good but many ap1s ate oil. Make sure your level is good then keep an eye on the car entering vtec.

My 4th cylinder is way off in the compression leakdown test...The shop out here told me I have bent valves, but I really don't think that is what is causing me to burn a ton of oil and smoke like crazy when I hit the vtekz. I really think it's the damn block, and would hate to spend 1.5-2k for a new head and not solve the problem. Any insight?

You could also just buy an S2000 swap from HMotorsOnline and swap a fresh drive-train in.

heard this is common among s2k's. Although my s2k doesn't seem to burn oil I change my oil every other month. Also different people seem to get different results from the oils they use. To rebuild the engine you will have to sleeve the block from what I hear so might get pricey for you. Good luck and check out S2KI.com lots of useful information there as well.
