From a social outside looking in approach, fucking a bunch of women makes sense as that is what is expected of males in society. With the social stigma of playing video games, there's a stereotype that most people who play a lot of video games are fat acne faced middle aged guys who live in their parents basement.

I think what Broskiballa is trying to say, is that many games (such as World of Warcraft) sole agenda is to collect monthly revenue by creating a competitive atmosphere of intangible items by strategically placing obtainable goals in front of a player that makes the player stay interested. Such atmosphere a player has to trade not only effort but irreplaceable time to do these goals.

I think both points by Cray and Broskiballa are arguing over apples and oranges. However, I must admit, I have had conversations about regret with people who logged thousands of hours of game time online, and I've never heard one of my friends say "Man, I have slept with too many females in my lifetime." But like I said, apples and oranges.

It's a way for anti social people to escape life. Vidya games used to be a social thing but due to the ease of online gaming multiplayer involving your buddies at your house and doom lan parties have since fizzled out.

I used to not play vidya games but after getting married I've found my PS3 is an escape hatch from responsibilities and it's a break from my wife.
